Job summary

National Skills Agency Ltd is seeking an experienced Functional Skills English Tutor (MAT Cover) to support learners across a range of abilities and educational needs.

The role focuses on delivering Functional Skills English to learners progressing from Entry Level 1-3 and Level 1-2, with flexible teaching and cover across the MAT as required, including support for learners with SEND and other learning differences.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with recognised teaching qualification.
• English GCSE C/4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
• Assessor qualification.
• Experience teaching or supporting learners with a range of abilities and needs.
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills English lessons from Entry Level 1 to Level 2.
• Develop learners' reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication skills.
• Provide teaching and cover across the MAT as required, adapting to different groups and learner needs.
• Deliver engaging lessons and activities that encourage participation, confidence and independence.
• Adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet individual learning needs.
• Support learners with additional needs, including SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia and communication or behavioural difficulties.
• Assess and monitor learner progress using appropriate assessment and tracking methods.
• Maintain accurate learner records and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments and examinations.
• Support learners in developing English skills for everyday life, further education and employment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to support learner progress and wellbeing.
• Attend team meetings, standardisation sessions and quality assurance activities as required.
• Maintain up-to-date CPD and professional knowledge.
• Follow safeguarding, equality, health and safety and learner wellbeing policies.
• Demonstrate flexibility and undertake additional teaching, cover and support duties across the MAT where required.

The role will involve delivering Functional Skills English to learners working towards Entry Level 1-3 and Level 1 & 2, alongside providing flexible teaching and cover across the wider Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Recognised teaching qualification such as AET, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent.
• English GCSE Grade C/4 or above, or Functional Skills English Level 2.
• Recognised assessor qualification.
• Experience of teaching or supporting learners with a range of abilities and learning needs.
• Experience of planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
• Understanding of assessment, learner progression and individual learning needs.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexibly across different teaching environments
