Job summary

Veolia UK in Ellesmere Port is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to lead the management of safety lifecycle for safety instrumented systems at the Ellesmere Port High Temperature Incinerator. You will provide EC&I technical support to site projects and drive functional safety improvements across the business.

The role demands strong communication skills to influence stakeholders, audit-driven mindset and experience with COMAH sites, hazard studies, and safety reports, with a generous benefits

• Experience working with COMAH sites.

Responsibilities

• Based at Ellesmere Port High Temperature Incinerator, ensures a robust functional safety management system to achieve compliance.
• Provide EC&I technical support to site projects as required.
• Support COMAH activities—intervention visits and safety report development.
• Support long term hazardous waste functional safety improvement.
• Be the Veolia functional safety subject matter expert.
• Ensure audits cover all aspects of functional safety.
• Develop and work with internal functions on asset strategies.
• Support functional safety/process safety competency development.
• Hazard study support as required (PHA/HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA).

Functional Safety Engineer

Salary: Up to £73,000 per annum DOE plus annual performance bonus, company car or car allowance, private medical and pension

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Ellesmere Port

What you'll be doing;

• You will provide expertise and appropriate direction to the development of functional safety management across the wider business.
• Provide EC&I technical support to site projects as required.
• Support COMAH activities - intervention visits and safety report development.
• Support long term hazardous waste functional safety improvement.

• Ensure audits are carried out to cover all aspects of functional safety.

What we're looking for;

• Experience in management of functional safety lifecycle for safety instrumented systems.
• TUV Functional safety engineer.
• Experience in leading hazard identification and risk assessment (PHA/HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA).
• Experience working with COMAH sites.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
