Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking multiple Full-Time experienced and/or qualified Teaching Assistants for a number of roles cross Cambridge and the surrounding area.


This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate education professional who enjoys supporting pupils both in the classroom and through targeted intervention. The role offers a mixture of 1:1 SEND support and general Teaching Assistant duties, making it ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact on children's learning and development.


The schools are committed to investing in quality support staff and offers excellent long-term prospects. Successful candidates may be offered a permanent contract directly with the schools following a successful placement period through Teaching Personnel.


The Role

1:1 SEND Support

  • Providing tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

  • Supporting pupils with learning, communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

  • Implementing strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and self-esteem.

  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO.

  • Adapting resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.

  • Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and enrichment activities where required.


General Teaching Assistant Duties

  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.

  • Supporting small group and whole-class learning activities.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

  • Assisting with displays, resources, and general classroom administration.

  • Supporting assessment activities and pupil progress tracking.

  • Supervising pupils during activities, educational visits, and school events when required.


Requirements


  • Have a minimum of 1 year's experience working in UK schools.

  • Hold a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification and/or demonstrate significant relevant school-based experience.

  • Have a passion for supporting children's learning and development.

  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Be able to provide references covering recent educational or childcare employment.

  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply and pay for one through Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
