Job summary

Skipton Girls’ High School in North Yorkshire seeks a reliable Caretaker to join our Facilities Team. You will help ensure the site is safe, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors, with duties ranging from opening and securing the site to minor repairs and health and safety checks.

This full-time role runs 37 hours per week, mostly afternoons and evenings, across term time and holidays. You will work closely with colleagues, monitor contractors, set up rooms, and support

Qualifications

• Reliable, proactive and enthusiastic Caretaker.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site according to procedures.
• Carrying out routine inspections of buildings and grounds.
• Undertaking minor repairs and general caretaking duties.
• Reporting maintenance issues and safety concerns.
• Supporting cleanliness and presentation of buildings and external areas.
• Assisting with health and safety checks including fire and security inspections.
• Setting up rooms and equipment for meetings, events, examinations and activities.
• Monitoring contractors on site and ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Managing site security, including alarms and emergencies when required.
• Ensuring pathways and outdoor areas are safe and accessible.
• Monitoring stock levels of site supplies.
