Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Hospital Porter to join our busy site in Yeovil. This permanent role involves transporting patients, equipment and essential items, supporting patient care and responding to emergencies within a fast-paced hospital setting.

The successful candidate will be calm, compassionate and proactive with strong communication skills, able to multitask and prioritise work according to hospital needs. A friendly, service-oriented approach is essential.

We have the below permanent Portering role within Simply Serve totalling 37.5 hours per week on a rotational 3 week rota. Week 1 - Monday - Thursday 14:00 - 22:00, Friday 09:30-17:30 Week 2 - Wednesday - Sunday 06:00-14:00 Week 3 - Monday - Tuesday 06:00-14:00, Friday - Sunday 14:00-22:00, As a Hospital Porter, you'll play a key role in supporting patient care by transporting patients, equipment, and essential items throughout the hospital. You'll also provide vital support during emergency and security incidents. Some work will be of a routine nature, such as Pharmacy runs, but much of the work is ad-hoc. As many of the tasks involve patient contact, you'll need to have a friendly nature and excellent communications skills and be able to prioritise work according to the needs of the hospital.

This role requires a calm, compassionate, and proactive individual who can multitask and provide excellent service, even under pressure.
