Job summary

Gap Personnel is seeking an NHS Porter for a Community Hospital. The role involves supporting patient movement, handling equipment, and assisting across the Facilities Team. Immediate start is available with weekly pay and flexible hours.

Shifts are rotational, part-time and full-time options exist, with enhanced rates for evenings and weekends where applicable. Prior healthcare or porter experience is beneficial but not essential for admission.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients between wards, departments and treatment areas.
  • Move medical equipment, furniture and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Deliver and collect clinical and non-clinical items as required.
  • Assist hospital staff with setting up rooms and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to porter requests across the site.
  • Support the transfer of specimens, medical records and pharmacy items.
  • Ensure wheelchairs, trolleys and other equipment are clean and available for use.
  • Follow all health and safety, infection prevention and manual handling procedures.
  • Provide a courteous and professional service to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Support emergency and ad hoc requests as directed by supervisors.

NHS Porter

Location: Community Hospital
Hours: 15 - 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Temporary Ongoing
Pay Rate: £12.71 - £23.26 per hour (enhanced rates for evenings, weekends and bank holidays where applicable)
Start Date: Immediate Start Available

About the Role

We are seeking reliable and compassionate Porters to join a friendly team within a small Community Hospital. This is a vital frontline role supporting patient care and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of hospital services.

Working as part of the Facilities Team, you will provide a professional portering service across the hospital, assisting with the safe movement of patients, equipment, supplies and clinical items.

Key Responsibilities
