Assist in managing and supervising up to 80 associates in the Fresh Foods Department. Responsible for supporting the Department Manager with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities according to Harris Teeter's policies and standards. Responsibilities may include: performing duties of baker/fryer, cake decorator, Fresh Foods clerks, and chef; interviewing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting in performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence in English; effective presentation skills in small group settings.
Knowledge of HT Internet software, email, inventory management, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations with numbers, currency, weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions; problem-solving in standardized situations.
Completion of company's training programs including new hire orientation, customer service, safety, food safety, and department management training.
Regularly required to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, and smell; occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift up to 40 pounds regularly, up to 60 pounds occasionally; reach from 6-72 inches; specific vision requirements include close, color, and depth perception.
Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and cold; moderate noise level.
