Job summary

RNN Group's Dearne Valley College campus in Rotherham is hiring a Caretaker and Estates Operative.

You will work 37 hours per week, shift pattern mornings and afternoons, year-round, ensuring buildings are secure, clean, and ready for use, and assist with room setups, deliveries, and basic maintenance.

The role pays up to £25,456 per year with benefits, and offers pension, generous leave, and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance/security/caretaking role (ideally in education).
• Level 2 English and Maths or willingness to work towards it.

Responsibilities

• Participate in shift rota to ensure Estates presence when buildings are open and secure premises during the day.
• Assist with cleaning and grounds maintenance by removing refuse and emptying bins.
• Promote health and safety by keeping corridors and exits clear of spills or hazards.
• Prepare rooms for use and set up spaces for curriculum or meetings, assist with staff room moves.
• Ensure post and parcels are delivered to correct areas to support department work.
• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs and support risk assessments.
• Respond to college emergencies including evacuations and lift breakdowns as required.
• Provide First Aid as needed.
