Job summary

RNN Group’s Dearne Valley College campus in Rotherham seeks a Caretaker and Estates Operative to join the Estates team. The role is full-time (37hrs per week) on a shift pattern of mornings and afternoons, permanent, based on campus.

You will help ensure buildings are available, accessible and safe for students, staff and visitors; assist with room setups, security, cleaning and general maintenance as part of a welcoming campus environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance/caretaking or similar roles; ideally in education.
• Level 2 English and Maths or willingness to work towards.

Responsibilities

• Participate in shift rota to maintain Estates presence and security when college buildings are open.
• Assist in keeping buildings and grounds clean by removing refuse and emptying bins.
• Promote health and safety by keeping corridors and exits clear of hazards.
• Prepare rooms for use and assist with furniture moves or re-arrangements.
• Ensure goods, documents, post and parcels are delivered to the correct areas promptly.
• Assist with routine maintenance and raise improvement suggestions for the environment and planned maintenance.
• Respond to emergencies including evacuations and lift breakdowns; assist with first aid as required.
