Job summary

Adecco is partnering with a Bristol-based tech team to hire a Software Engineer who will work across Python backend and frontend technologies. The role focuses on building data-intensive applications with modern frameworks, data visualization and cloud integration.

You’ll contribute across the stack, collaborate with engineers and data scientists, and develop scalable APIs and dashboards while improving testing and deployment processes.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' professional software engineering experience.
• Strong commercial experience with Python.
• Experience with FastAPI or a similar modern Python web framework.
• Some experience with TypeScript and frontend development.
• Good understanding of REST APIs and frontend/backend integration.
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience working within a cloud environment - GCP would be particularly beneficial.
• Good understanding of Git, automated testing, CI/CD and clean coding practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in working with data-intensive applications.
• A collaborative approach and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Design and build robust REST APIs.
• Contribute to frontend applications using TypeScript.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend data sources.
• Build interactive dashboards, charts and data visualisations.
• Work with PostgreSQL and ORM technologies such as SQLAlchemy.
• Develop reliable, scalable and high-performance applications.
• Work with cloud-native technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD and code review processes.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists and other technical specialists.
• Help integrate analytical and data-driven capabilities into production software.
