Job summary

Adecco is partnering with a Bristol-based tech team to hire a Software Engineer who will work across Python backend and frontend technologies. The role focuses on building data-intensive applications with modern frameworks, data visualization and cloud integration.

You’ll contribute across the stack, collaborate with engineers and data scientists, and develop scalable APIs and dashboards while improving testing and deployment processes.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' professional software engineering experience.
• Strong commercial experience with Python.
• Experience with FastAPI or a similar modern Python web framework.
• Some experience with TypeScript and frontend development.
• Good understanding of REST APIs and frontend/backend integration.
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience working within a cloud environment - GCP would be particularly beneficial.
• Good understanding of Git, automated testing, CI/CD and clean coding practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in working with data-intensive applications.
• A collaborative approach and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Design and build robust REST APIs.
• Contribute to frontend applications using TypeScript.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend data sources.

Software Engineer - Python / Front End

Location: Bristol - 2 days per week in the office

£50,000 - £70,000

The Opportunity

We're working with an innovative, technology-led organisation that is building sophisticated software platforms at the intersection of software engineering, data science, analytics and risk.

They are looking for a Software Engineer with around 2-3 years' professional experience to join a highly skilled and collaborative engineering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a developer who is strongest on the backend but enjoys working across the stack and wants to broaden their technical skill set.

You'll primarily work with Python and FastAPI, developing APIs and data-intensive backend services, while also contributing to modern frontend applications and user-facing features.

You'll work closely with experienced engineers, data scientists and subject-matter experts to build products that solve complex, real-world problems.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing and maintaining backend services using Python and FastAPI

What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have:

• GPU or accelerated computing technologies such as CUDA, CuPy or Numba
• Numerical or high-performance computing
• Insurance, finance, risk, analytics or other data-intensive environments
