Job summary

Adecco is partnering with an innovative technology-led organisation in Bristol, offering a hybrid role with 2 days in the office. The position is for a Software Engineer with 2-3 years' experience, focusing on Python backend development with FastAPI, building robust APIs and data-intensive services.

You will work across the stack, contribute to frontend with TypeScript, and collaborate with data scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years' professional software engineering experience.
• Strong commercial experience with Python.
• Experience with FastAPI or a similar modern Python web framework.
• Some experience with TypeScript and frontend development.
• Good understanding of REST APIs and frontend/backend integration.
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience working within a cloud environment - GCP would be particularly beneficial.
• Good understanding of Git, automated testing, CI/CD and clean coding practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in working with data-intensive applications.
• A collaborative approach and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining backend services using Python and FastAPI.

The Opportunity

We're working with an innovative, technology-led organisation that is building sophisticated software platforms at the intersection of software engineering, data science, analytics and risk.

They are looking for a Software Engineer with around 2-3 years' professional experience to join a highly skilled and collaborative engineering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a developer who is strongest on the backend but enjoys working across the stack and wants to broaden their technical skill set.

You'll primarily work with Python and FastAPI, developing APIs and data-intensive backend services, while also contributing to modern frontend applications and user-facing features.

You'll work closely with experienced engineers, data scientists and subject-matter experts to build products that solve complex, real-world problems.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have:

• 2-3 years' professional software engineering experience
• Strong commercial experience with Python
• Experience with FastAPI or a similar modern Python web framework
• Some experience with TypeScript and frontend development
• Good understanding of REST APIs and frontend/backend integration
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL

• GPU or accelerated computing technologies such as CUDA, CuPy or Numba

• Insurance, finance, risk, analytics or other data-intensive environments
