Job summary

La Fosse is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build and deliver scalable software products in Leeds with a hybrid work setup. The role focuses on backend development (Java) while contributing to full-stack initiatives and engineering standards.

You will work across the full stack, collaborate with Product, Design and QA, and mentor peers while driving engineering excellence and modern practices. The position requires commuting to Leeds 2–3 days per week.

Qualifications

• Strong backend development experience, ideally with Java.
• Full-stack development experience and understanding of end-to-end systems.
• Proven ability to influence technical decisions and engineering standards.
• Experience with automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs and full-stack applications.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
• Champion code quality through testing, code reviews and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and QA teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Support and mentor engineers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
