Job summary

Experis Consultancy seeks a skilled Java Developer to join a UK Public Sector-focused team. You will design, build, test and maintain enterprise Java applications, delivering secure, scalable microservices in a cloud and containerised environment.

The role requires strong Java experience, familiarity with frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot and Hibernate, and a background in REST APIs, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. On-site presence is required in multiple cities.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience in Java development.
  • Experience with Java frameworks and libraries including Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Struts, JSF, Apache Commons or Guava.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Understanding of software testing methodologies and automated testing practices.
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience delivering solutions within the UK Public Sector.
  • Understanding of Public Sector delivery frameworks, governance, security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is desirable.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is desirable.
  • Experience with messaging technologies and event-driven architectures is desirable.
  • Familiarity with secure coding principles and cloud-native development patterns is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications.
  • Build scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions using modern Java frameworks and technologies.
  • Develop and support microservices-based architectures and distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, and other developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for applications and services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the adoption of modern development practices.
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of applications in cloud and containerised environments.

Job description

Salary: £40,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java development
  • Experience with one or more Java frameworks and libraries, including Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Struts, JavaServer Faces (JSF), Apache Commons, or Guava
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and associated technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Swagger/OpenAPI
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git
  • Understanding of software testing methodologies and automated testing practices
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies

  • Experience working on large-scale digital transformation or citizen-facing services is highly desirable
