Job summary

EMBL-EBI invites applications to contribute to data portals for leading sustainability and biodiversity projects. You will develop software for data curation, validation, distribution, and visualization, collaborating with large scientific communities to implement metadata standards and project-specific portals.

You will work on APIs, bespoke visualisation, and MCP-enabled data access, while promoting containerised workflows and cloud integration across ENA/BioSamples and related archives.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in computer science or related field.
• Experience with Python libraries and web frameworks (Django, FastAPI).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience in data warehousing, ETL and big data processing.
• Proficient Unix/Linux and Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support software for data curation, validation, and dissemination across biodiversity projects.
• Build project portals and extend existing data portals to meet consortium needs.
• Create APIs and data visualisation solutions; expose data via MCP servers and agent interfaces.
• Support containerised workflows and cloud platform integration.
