Job summary

Bruker is seeking a FTIR, NIR, Raman Applications Scientist in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on applying Bruker’s FTIR, Raman and NIR systems, supporting customers across the UK, Ireland and Nordic Countries, and collaborating with the sales team to deliver pre- and post-sales assistance and training.

You will travel extensively, engage in demonstrations, prepare reports, and participate in conferences.

Qualifications

• Experience in vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR/FT-NIR/Raman) preferred.
• Willingness to travel at least 50% of time.
• Bachelor or Master in chemistry, chemical engineering, bioscience, or life sciences.
• Strong English written and spoken skills.
• Valid driving license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical application support for FTIR, Raman and NIR systems in UK/Ireland and Nordics.
• Assist pre- and post-sales activities and customer training.
• Support Bruker demo lab demonstrations and customer site visits.
• Process data and generate result reports for customers.
• Travel extensively (up to ~70% at times) within UK/Ireland/Nordics; international travel possible.
• Support service organization as required and cover during colleague absence.

We are currently seeking a FTIR, NIR, Raman Applications Scientist (m/f/d) to join our team in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

The key focus of the role is to support the application of our FTIR, Raman and NIR systems in the UK, Ireland and Nordic Countries, working with the local sales team, assisting with pre- and post-sales and service support activities, application support, customer training and attendance at meetings and conferences. This role will also provide support to the BOPT service organization as and when required.

• Technical application support of our customers to enable them to fully exploit the capabilities of their instrument investments and supporting the service group when required to ensure escalation resolution in a timely manner
• Post sales support including troubleshooting as required remotely and at customer sites
• Provide high level customer trainings and ongoing continuous support to ensure customer success
• Support of demonstration activities of Bruker Optics solutions in the Bruker demo lab or at customer sites in the UK and Nordic region
• Data processing of sample evaluations for customers and generation of result reports
• Active participation in conferences and exhibitions, including customer interaction, preparation of posters and support of Bruker user meetings and customer focused seminars
• Traveling within UK/Ireland/Nordics for extensive periods of time, this will be on a variable frequency depending upon demand and tasks, and may be up to 70% at times, with stay away-from-home
• International travel would be possible as well (internal trainings and meetings, participation in instrument demonstrations in the European laboratories, potential support of other territories on a case-per-case basis)
• Provide possible cover during certain periods, due to colleague on absence

Qualifications

• Experience and/or education in vibrational spectroscopy such as FTIR, FT-NIR, Raman and other scientific lab equipment preferred
• Ability to work in an analytical environment: being focused, ability to structure complex request scenarios
• Willingness to travel (at least 50% of the monthly working time)
• Capability of good people skills to easily connect with people from different markets (QC and academics)
• Competence to efficiently and professionally guide clients through the sales process
• Preferably 1-3 years of sales experience in an analytical environment
• Education: bachelor or master in chemistry, chemical engineering, bio-chemistry, agriculture and life science related.
• Good written and oral English language skills
• A valid driving license is mandatory
• A friendly, accommodating and helpful disposition
• Reliable with a high standard of personal presentation
• Highly organised and capable of dealing with several tasks at the same time.
