Job summary

EMBL-EBI, based at the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge, UK, is seeking an experienced Front-End Developer for the Europe PMC literature service. You will build fast, accessible user interfaces, collaborate with UX, back-end, and data science teams, and help evolve Europe PMC’s web architecture for scalable access to biomedical literature.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with React, Vue or similar frontend frameworks.
• Experience building reusable components and scalable frontend architectures.
• Experience with REST APIs and JSON data formats.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain responsive, accessible web interfaces.
• Build reusable frontend components and ensure design system consistency.
• Translate UX designs into production-quality interfaces.
• Develop interfaces for data-rich workflows like search and article pages.
• Integrate front-end apps with APIs using JSON data.
• Ensure performance and accessibility; participate in code reviews.
