Job description

Front of House Supervisor

Location: Liverpool

Salary: A£27,248 per annum

We are The Forward Trust (formerly RAPt and Blue Sky), a social enterprise with charitable status that empowers people to break the often interlinked cycles of crime and addiction to move forward with their lives. For more than 25 years we have been working with people to build positive and productive lives, whatever their past. We believe that anyone is capable of lasting change. Our services have supported thousands of people to make positive changes and build productive lives with a job, family, friends, and a sense of community.

What you will be doing?

The Brink Liverpool is part of the Forward Trust, which operates across the UK. There is nowhere else quite like The Brink or The Brink Café. The café serves a flourishing and established recovery community that links seamlessly with the general public, other partners, and providers, as well as the wider community including local residents.

The Brink Café, based in Liverpool's city centre, was established in 2011 and is an award-winning alcohol-free café bar, originally the first of its kind in the UK. In addition to offering healthy food and many varieties of non-alcoholic drinks, the venue provides individuals with addiction problems a discrete way of seeking help and support. Many of the staff who have worked at The Brink are in recovery themselves.

The Brink is a well-known and well-regarded central HUB that boasts an entertainment venue and space, offering activities such as open mic nights, film screenings, afternoon teas, holistic therapies, and forums & socials for a wide range of services and communities in the Liverpool City Region.

We are looking for an individual who can be flexible, has a passion to learn, and is able to show empathy in line with the Brink community ethos. The opportunity to help and support those in recovery and who are seeking long-term recovery is a big responsibility; therefore, we welcome applicants who have had similar experiences or other instances of lived experience.

The ideal candidate should be available from Sunday to Saturday for shifts, including morning, evening, and weekend work, as well as occasional later evening sessions. Be open to contributing ideas and suggestions around events and ideas for business growth and development, and be prepared to go the extra mile. You will support the General Manager to provide services and events, as well as help out the chef with general kitchen and café duties.

This role supports the General Manager with the running of The Brink Café, including event planning and delivery, ensuring a high-quality service delivery for all customers and clients. This role will require the flexibility to work shifts from Sunday to Saturday, including evenings and weekends. You may be asked to attend functions, events, or deliver catering for the needs of the business.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with supervisory experience to support and organize front-of-house staff, train staff in expected levels of customer service, and maintain a happy and customer-focused environment. Working in harmony with the organization's values, respecting others, and valuing diversity is essential.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience; these are desirable but not essential as we will offer training and induction:

  1. Leadership skills
  2. Running day-to-day café service
  3. Supporting The Brink to achieve sales and profit targets as directed by the General Manager
  4. Support organized events to run efficiently
  5. Deputize in the General Manager's absence
  6. Support health and safety of the venue
  7. Ensure compliance with licensing laws and other statutory regulations

What we offer:
  1. Training and development opportunities
  2. Flexible working
  3. Simply Health Cashback Scheme (Optional)
  4. A£90 Monthly External Therapy Allowance
  5. Season Ticket Loan Scheme
  6. Cycle to work scheme
  7. Crisis Loan Scheme
  8. Electric Car Scheme
  9. 3 x Wellbeing Days (pro rata'd for part-time employees)
  10. Access to Blue Light Card
  11. 25 days (rising to 30 with length of service) Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays
  12. Contributory Pension Scheme - Employer matched contributions of up to 6% in the first two years' service and up to 9% thereafter
  13. Death in Service Payment (2x annual salary)
  14. Critical Illness Insurance (subject to qualifying criteria)
