Job summary

The Harley Street Clinic in London, part of HCA UK, is seeking a dedicated Porter/Driver for full-time support across front-of-house operations. You will assist with portering, patient transport, security, and logistics to ensure smooth patient journeys and exceptional service in a private healthcare setting.

Shifts run 07:30–21:00, 5 days out of 7 with weekend rotation. A UK driving licence and prior portering experience are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are required.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Take patients and visitors to rooms and transfer between departments.
• Deliver mail, equipment and materials around the hospital.
• Conduct hospital blood rounds and manage refuse disposal.
• Assist in Medical Gas management and support undertakers’ team.
• Support with medicine and fluid delivery/storage.
• Carry out security and fire patrols across buildings; report incidents.
• Operate shuttle bus across Wellington Campus sites.

We’re looking for a Porter to join our Front of House team based at The Harley Street Clinic. Working within one of the UK’s leading private healthcare facilities, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the hospital while helping to deliver an exceptional experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.

This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll support departments across the hospital with portering, security, patient transport and logistics duties, helping to ensure services run safely, smoothly and efficiently at all times.

As a Porter you’ll provide professional support across the hospital environment, assisting patients and visitors while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence. From supporting emergency response teams and managing waste streams, to transporting patients and assisting with deliveries across site, your work will make a real difference to the overall patient journey. You’ll become part of a collaborative and supportive team where professionalism, compassion and teamwork are valued every day.

What you’ll do:

• Taking patients andvisitors to their rooms
• Transferring patients between hospital departments
• Delivery of mail, equipment and materials
• Hospital blood rounds
• Collection and disposal of refuse (including clinical waste and sharps)
• Assist in managing Medical Gas
• Assisting the undertakers’ team
• Medicine and fluid delivery/ storage
• Carry out security/fire patrols of all internal and external Hospital Buildings, and to ensure all incidents are recorded in the correct manner
• Driving of the shuttle bus across different Wellington Campus sites

What you’ll bring:

• Physically fit, able to lift heavy items when required
• Full UK, clean drivers license is essential
• Previous experience in a similar role is essential
• Excellent communication and customer skills
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
