Workshop Manager / Service Advisor – Independent Garage | £38,000 + £2,000 Annual Bonus | No Weekends!

Location:Saffron Walden
Salary:£38,000 basic + £2,000 annual bonus
Hours:Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm (1hr lunch) –No weekend work!

Are you an experienced and reliable Workshop Manager or Service Advisor looking to take the next step in your career? Our client – a respected independent garage known for low-mileage car sales and top-tier servicing – is looking for someone just like you to join their close-knit team.

With an average of 1,200 MOTs and 700 services a year, and 8 workshop jobs completed daily, this garage is both busy and well-organised – and they’re ready for a motivated individual to play a pivotal role.

The Role:

AsWorkshop Manager / Service Advisor, you’ll be the first point of contact for customers and the operational lead for the workshop. You’ll take charge of the day-to-day running, working closely with the owner and two highly skilled technicians. With the current workshop manager transitioning into a reception/sales role, you’ll gradually take full responsibility – particularly when the owner is away.

Key Responsibilities:

• Open up each morning as a key holder
• Book in customers, respond to phone/email enquiries
• Create job cards and pre-order parts where required
• Allocate and manage workshop jobs with technicians
• Liaise with customers through to completion of work
• Invoice jobs, collect payments, arrange vehicle collection/delivery
• Oversee MOT and service reminders, and manage admin tasks
• Optional: take an active role in car sales, or delegate to others
• Act as lead when the owner is on annual leave

• Proven experience in a similar Workshop Manager or Service Advisor role
• Reliable, well-presented and organised – your attendance and consistency are crucial
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Confident managing people and prioritising tasks
• Comfortable using garage management systems and email
• A desire for long-term employment with real responsibility
