Qualifications

  • Train driver experience with southern region route knowledge.
  • A current PTS (third rail) certification.
  • A clean safety record and a full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety and ensure compliance with GE/RT8000 regulations.
  • Operate freight trains safely while adhering to directives.
  • Maintain vehicles and perform minor repairs when necessary.

Purpose of the Role

Qualified Freight Train Driver to undertake the safe , efficient operation of freight train services run by Colas Rail

Person Specification

  • Ensure safety of the line, prioritising safety
  • Flexibility with shift patterns
  • Good time management
  • Compliant in current rules and regulations which conform to GE/RT8000
  • Train Driver Experience with existing southern region route knowledge.
  • A current PTS (third rail)
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A clean safety record

Key Responsibilities

  • Applies the safety guidelines linked to their activities including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Prepares for their work: analysis of the information concerning the carrying out of the work, transfer of vehicles to the construction site, installs construction site signs and provides access roads in compliance with the traffic rules for safe work.
  • Takes care of the proper adjustment of their equipment and vehiclesbefore operating them.
  • Carries out the work, operating the vehicles according to the prerogatives of the required authorizations and ensuring safety.
  • Carries out workbased on precise directives from their hierarchy.
  • Maintains vehicles: clearing and verification of vehicles after use, carries out standard upkeep (minor repairs) in observance of the company’s environmental guidelines and the regulations, notifies their manager in the event of anomalies.
