Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Tooling Teams perform manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for constructing, modifying, and conditioning metal working dies, as well as fabricating gages, cutting or forming tools, and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exact tolerances, recommend design revisions or material substitutions based on machinability or fabrication issues, and solve problems related to materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production processes. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area and adhering to TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures are also essential responsibilities.

Primary Purpose

To provide toolmaking services for manufacturing new tools and repairing or renovating old tools. The role requires working to very close tolerances, understanding engineering drawings, and providing technical advice and training to team members.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Manufacture new tools, repair, and renovate old tools.
  • Handle various tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Plan manufacturing stages, selecting appropriate machinery and processes to achieve desired accuracy and quality.
  • Operate machines safely and responsibly, maintaining a clean environment.
  • Complete tasks within set timeframes to meet departmental targets.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Tooling or Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Possess good general education, numeracy, and perception skills.
  • Capable of manual grinding, turning, and milling.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
