Job summary

JHR Recruitment is working with a well-established main contractor to appoint an experienced Freelance Lead Site Manager for a £400k refurbishment on a high-security military base in Plymouth.

You will take full site responsibility, manage day-to-day activities and subcontractors, ensure works are on programme and to specification, and maintain strong client relationships while upholding H&S standards. BPSS clearance, SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Manager / Lead Site Manager with a main contractor.
• Experience on high security or military projects preferred.
• BPSS clearance required.
• SMSTS and CSCS card and First Aid qualified.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams and drive programme on site.

Freelance Lead Site Manager - Main Contractor

Plymouth | £300-£400 per day PAYE

JHR Recruitment is working with a well-established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the South West. Due to continued growth and a secured pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Lead Site Manager to take responsibility for a key project in Plymouth.

The Project

You will lead the delivery of a £400k refurbishment to a commercial building within a high security military base in Plymouth. This is a fast paced, technically focused project including new M&E install. Requiring strong coordination, programme management, and attention to detail to ensure minimal disruption and high-quality execution.

The Role

As Lead Site Manager, you will take full site responsibility, reporting to a visiting contracts manager overseeing all site operations from start to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing day-to-day site activities and subcontractors
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
• Coordinating trades and managing site logistics on a live high security environment
• Driving quality standards and ensuring compliance with design requirements
• Monitoring progress and reporting to senior management
• Maintaining strong client relationships on site
• Ensuring all H&S procedures and company policies are adhered to

About You

• Proven experience as a Site Manager / Lead Site Manager with a main contractor
