Job summary

Barnardo's Adoption Midlands & South West is seeking qualified Social Workers to conduct adoption assessments as external consultants. You will be supervised by a Practice Manager and invited to training events. Travel and mileage are paid, with occasional accommodation supplied.

Role involves initial visits, completing AARs, reporting to Panel, and supporting families through reviews or matching panels. This is a freelance external consultant role with regular professional forums.

Qualifications

• Good assessment and report writing skills.
• Competent IT skills.
• Prepared to work face-to-face and occasionally virtually with prospective adopters.
• Full driving licence and prepared to travel.
• 2-years post-qualifying Social Work experience.
• Registration with SW England.

Responsibilities

• Initial visits to prospective adopters and completing full adoption assessments.
• Writing Adoption Assessment Reports (AARs).
• Reporting to Panel and attending reviews or matching panels as needed.
• Occasional additional support for families.
