Everyone belongs at OVO

At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity's biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.

Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:

Fraudulent behavior is a risk across the business areas at OVO. If a customer cannot safely pay for their energy or decarbonisation products in a variety of ways that best suits their circumstances and personal preferences, they will look elsewhere. We are looking for ambitious, fraud enthusiasts to drive forward our payments area.

This role in a nutshell:

As Fraud Lead you’ll create and build a fraud capability at OVO, with a particular emphasis on preventing payment fraud.

You will build the strategy and support the Head of Fraud Prevention in pushing this strategy out across the business areas, preventing both internal and external fraudulent behavior.

A strong focus will be on preventing any money leaving the business due to fraudulent activity but will extend to identifying non-financial vulnerabilities and working with the right teams to prevent these.

You’ll be working collaboratively with team members across the company to promote purpose-led, data driven decision making into our product and tech landscapes to protect us against vulnerabilities. You will protect OVO through the management of a comprehensive fraud management register and feed this up to the leadership team.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Build and regularly update OVOs Fraud playbook
  • Build Fraud strategy and identify partners and supporting products to help in our mission to eliminate payments fraud at OVO
  • Use analysis from the Payment Fraud data team to publish our findings on fraud
  • Work with info-sec, dpia, product and tech to ensure fraud prevention is considered
  • Proactively search and test vulnerabilities in our customer and agent journeys to identify vulnerabilities from internal and external actors.
  • Establish relationships with key partners
  • Connect with the wider team and key collaborators on patterns and trends in payments and fraud
  • Investigate potential fraudulent activity, carrying out full investigation to identify root cause and propose solutions and requirements to close down any vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality when investigating cases

You’ll be a successful Fraud Lead at OVO if you are…

  • Experience building out fraud strategies for payment critical businesses
  • Knowledgeable and have experience within Fraud, especially Payments Fraud Data literate
  • Approach everything with a data first approach and confident moving between data rich environments
  • Comfortable leading and supporting fraudulent investigations, understanding the necessity for confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate clearly and deliver a succinct, confident message to a wide range of team members
  • Passionate about Fraud and knowledgeable about compliance in these areas.
  • Proactive communication and stakeholder management. Critically you know when and how to say ‘No’.

Let’s talk about what’s in it for you

We’ll pay you between £40,000 and £60,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
