Job summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join the Harbour Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service at Newton Abbot Hospital. You will lead day-to-day operations, coordinate shifts, and ensure safe, efficient patient flow for frailty care.

You will provide clinical leadership, support staff development and collaborate closely with the MDT, patients and families to uphold high standards of care in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration and postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Knowledge of clinical governance and health and safety obligations.
• Awareness of NHS plans and current ICO initiatives within Torbay Trust.
• Diverse and adaptable communication skills for MDT collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate unit and shift to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Provide clinical leadership and act as role model for the team.
• Lead Board/MDT rounds (SAFER) and ensure high-quality care delivery.
• Support staff development and maintain Trust and NMC standards.
• Collaborate with Harbour at Home team and MDT members.
