Job summary

Flat Iron is seeking a Fractional IT Director – Technology & AI for an 18-month, part-time contract (2 days/week). You will own IT infrastructure, lead the technology roadmap, and manage external partners while driving practical AI use across the business.

This role requires strong cybersecurity, governance, and the ability to translate complex tech into clear business outcomes. You’ll work with senior leaders across operations and finance to ensure secure, reliable systems that scale with

Qualifications

• Significant experience in an IT Director/Technology Leader role, ideally in a growing multi-site business.
• Hands-on experience with AI and automation, identifying where it adds value.
• Proven ability to manage outsourced IT partners and ensure value and quality.
• Strong cybersecurity knowledge, data protection, PCI DSS and responsible AI governance.
• Commercial acumen to balance cost, risk and impact when making tech decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own IT infrastructure and ensure security, reliability and scalability.
• Consolidate technology roadmap and deliver 18-month projects.
• Manage outsourced IT partners with clear SLAs and outcomes.
• Define integrated tech across infra, cloud, networks, EPOS and payments.
• Lead pilots of AI initiatives and scale those that add real value.
• Deliver technology projects end-to-end and embed changes.
• Collaborate with CFO/COO and other teams to simplify tech for users.
