Job summary

First Group is looking for an FP&A Analyst to strengthen our Finance Department with accurate monthly management accounts and insightful reporting. You will join a collaborative team working to deliver timely financial information for decision making.

You will prepare accruals, prepayments, allocations and payroll entries, feed the cash flow forecast, and help shape 'AS-IS' and 'TO-BE' processes. A hands-on, detail‑driven approach and strong Excel/Microsoft Apps skills are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths & English or equivalent
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to continuously improve processes and identify enhancements
• Collaborative team player with hands-on approach
• Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft Apps (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneNote)
• Outstanding attention to detail in a hands-on capacity
• Part Qualified AAT (Desirable)
• Finance experience (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis against Budget.
• Calculate accruals, prepayments, allocations, and payroll for accurate recording.
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
• Help develop AS-IS and TO-BE processes for continuous improvement.
• Promote cost awareness and ensure proper sign-off and authorization controls.
• Undertake project work to enhance financial processes.

What you'll be doing

• Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare precise and timely monthly management accounts, conducting variance analysis against Budget
• Journal Creation: Calculate and comprehend accruals, prepayments, allocations, and payroll for accurate financial recording
• Cash Flow Management: Feed into the cash flow forecast to ensure effective financial planning
• Process Improvement: Contribute to the creation of 'AS-IS' and 'TO-BE' processes for continuous improvement
• Cost Control Culture: Advocate cost awareness and adherence to control procedures, ensuring proper sign-off and authorisation processes
• Project Work: Undertake project work as needed to enhance financial processes continuously

What we're looking for
