Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a founding Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to build and scale a client-facing team delivering AI deployments with strategic customers. You’ll hire, mentor, and set standards, while ensuring high-quality, production-ready solutions through close technical work when needed.

You’ll collaborate across Sales, Product, and Engineering to shape customer engagements, define playbooks, and translate field insights into product improvements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical client-facing roles.
• 2+ years of people management in a services/FDE context.
• Experience building orgs from 0 to 1 and leading enterprise deployments.
• Executive presence with ability to engage senior stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and retain a world-class FDE team and set high standards.
• Provide mentorship and career growth; nurture performance and culture.
• Staff and oversee customer engagements; balance resources and priorities.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Eng to shape engagements and SOWs.
• Review architectures and code; ensure production-ready solutions.
• Lead technical discovery, prototype solutions, and deep-dive debugging.
• Create repeatable playbooks and internal knowledge bases.
• Define OKRs tied to customer success and product adoption.
• Translate field insights into product direction with cross-functional teams.
• Travel to customer sites 25–50% for kickoff and key accounts.
