Job summary

Dex in London is seeking an early‑hire software engineer to own the architecture, scalability, reliability, and security of the entire stack across web, mobile, and backend services.

You will design and refine a multimodal AI pipeline that converts on-site audio, images, and notes into structured, cited reports, while coordinating multiple AI agents to maintain high quality at velocity. You will work directly with safety assessors and help shape engineering culture as the team scales.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4+ years of software engineering experience shipping end‑to‑end production systems.
• Systems‑first architectural thinker who maintains total comprehension and quality control over code, including code written by autonomous agents.
• Daily, active workflow utilizing AI coding agents, paired with hands‑on experience or genuine conviction in building user‑facing LLM applications.
• Product‑minded and pragmatic: you prioritize customer impact and shipping speed over theoretical purity, and you take ownership without waiting for a brief.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, scalability, reliability, and security of the entire stack across web, mobile, and backend services.
• Design and refine the multimodal AI pipeline that processes on-site audio, images, and notes into structured, cited technical reports.
• Orchestrate multiple AI coding agents across parallel worktrees, maintaining strict architectural integrity and high code quality at high velocity.
• Work directly with active safety assessors to evaluate failure modes, understand physical inspection workflows, and ship immediate product improvements.
• Set the baseline for engineering culture, deployment pipelines, and early technical hiring as the company scales.
