Job summary

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting a dedicated and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sheffield, S14, supporting children within EYFS and Reception.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Early Years practitioner or someone with strong experience supporting children with additional needs who is looking for a full-time, long-term role in a supportive primary school.

Qualifications

• Experience in EYFS/Reception settings.
• Experience with SEND or additional needs is desirable.
• Patient, nurturing and confident with young children.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Confident providing 1:1 support and working with small groups.
• Understanding of child development and early years learning.
• Able to support communication, behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Reliable, proactive and a team player.
• Passionate about helping children reach their potential.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to children with SEND.
• Supporting children to access the EYFS and Reception curriculum.
• Helping children develop communication, social and emotional skills.
• Supporting learning, development and independence.
• Assisting with phonics, early reading, writing and maths activities.
• Supporting continuous provision and play-based learning.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and regulating emotions.
• Adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Working with the class teacher, SENDCo and other professionals.
• Providing personal care where required.
• Maintaining a safe, nurturing, inclusive learning environment.

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a dedicated and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sheffield, S14, supporting children within EYFS and Reception.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored support to children with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to children with SEND.
• Supporting children to access the EYFS and Reception curriculum.
• Helping children develop their communication, social and emotional skills.
• Supporting children with their learning, development and independence.
• Assisting with phonics, early reading, early writing and early maths activities.
• Supporting children during continuous provision and play-based learning.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children to regulate their emotions.
• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and other professionals.
• Providing personal care where required.
• Maintaining a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is:

• Experienced working with children within EYFS, Reception or Early Years settings.
• Experienced supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
• Patient, nurturing and confident when supporting young children.
• Able to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Confident providing 1:1 support and working with small groups.
• Understanding of child development and early years learning.
• Able to support children with communication, behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Passionate about helping children achieve their potential.

A relevant Level 2/Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification would be desirable, although relevant experience will also be considered.
