Job Description:

Your new school: A Teaching Assistant role has become available on a long-term basis in a nursery class at an infants' school in Newport. The school prioritizes learners and maintains excellent partnerships with pupils and parents. They have strong community links and aim to deliver the curriculum in an engaging manner. Your role: This is a full-time, long-term position supporting pupils in a nursery class. Responsibilities include general classroom assistance, running playtime activities, and supporting early years literacy and numeracy sessions. Duties include but are not limited to:

1. Working as part of a team to care for and engage young pupils in the nursery.
2. Creating and maintaining a safe environment for pupils.
3. Supporting pupils' personal, social, and cultural development, well-being.
4. Providing some personal care as needed.

What you will need to succeed: To be successful, you should have experience working in a nursery or similar educational setting. Requirements include:

1. At least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering in a school within the last 2–3 years.
2. Empathetic, calm, with problem-solving skills, commitment, and high motivation.
3. Experience supporting nursery-aged children.
4. Playwork qualifications are desirable but not essential.
