Job summary

Senploy is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a large secondary academy in Chesterfield within its Foundation Learning provision. The role focuses on targeted SEND support, literacy/numeracy development and helping pupils access the curriculum with increased independence.

You will work with the Foundation Learning Lead and teachers to deliver interventions, adapt resources and monitor progress, aiming for long-term progression into permanent employment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEND in a school or education setting.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Good understanding of the National Curriculum.
• Confidence adapting learning for pupils with additional needs.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
• High expectations of what young people can achieve.

Responsibilities

• Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Delivering interventions and structured learning activities.
• Adapting resources and approaches around individual pupils.
• Helping young people access the secondary curriculum at an appropriate level.
• Supporting literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning.
• Monitoring progress and feeding observations back to teaching staff.
• Helping evaluate interventions and identify appropriate next steps.
• Supporting pupils' social and emotional development alongside academic progress.
• Encouraging independence rather than creating reliance on adult support.
• Working closely with the Foundation Learning Lead, teachers and other education professionals.
