Job summary

Wokingham Council is seeking an experienced Fostering Social Worker to join the Fostering team as an Assistant Team Manager. The role focuses on supporting, developing, and retaining foster carers to ensure safe, stable homes for children. Flexible working includes two to three days per week from home.

The role offers hybrid working, monitored caseloads, and supportive management to help carers succeed and develop professionally within the service.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Experience in a management or leadership role within fostering services.
• Significant post-qualifying experience in fostering, family placement, or children's social care services.
• Experience of supervising and developing practitioners, alongside monitoring performance.

Responsibilities

• Support, develop and retain foster carers to provide safe and stable homes for children.
• Work with social workers to ensure high-quality support, training, and professional challenge for carers.
• Provide regular supervision opportunities and lead service development within fostering.
