Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Team Manager to lead the Kinship Fostering Team and oversee kinship and SGO assessments, supporting carers and safeguarding children.

The role requires leadership, social work qualification, and robust knowledge of fostering regulations and standards. Hybrid working with office and home balance is offered, plus extensive development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Social work qualification required.
• Specialist knowledge of childcare in relation to children in care and fostering.
• Knowledge of fostering regulations and National Minimum Standards.
• Ability to lead and manage staff through significant changes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure statutory childcare duties are met, national minimum standards and regulations are complied with, high standards of recognised professional practice are delivered, and staff work effectively with partners.
• Provide professional leadership, decision making advice, supervision and support of social workers and ensure appropriate decision making.
• Deliver the area of responsibility assigned through effective deployment of staff and resources to meet standards and secure positive outcomes.
• Manage and supervise a team, allocating workload and handling caseloads and projects.
• Ensure regular staff supervision and performance appraisal, coaching and facilitation.
• Investigate complaints and disciplinary matters in line with guidelines and legal requirements.
• Ensure children, young people and carers are involved in assessments and service reviews.
