Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join the Fostering Support Team. The role combines office-based and home working with potential flexible arrangements across Cambridgeshire.

You will lead on projects to improve support for foster carers and provide supervision to colleagues while ensuring children’s voices are heard during visits and reviews. You should be a registered Social Worker with English Social Work England, experienced in fostering, and capable of

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Travel across Cambridgeshire to support foster carers.
• Experience in fostering and child welfare settings is essential.
• Strong communication, assessment and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Help develop and improve the fostering support service through projects that enhance the quality of support for foster carers.
• Support and mentor colleagues within the fostering support team.
• Provide ongoing supervision and support to foster carers and households, ensuring children are seen regularly.
• Maintain compliance with fostering standards and regulations and complete required visits and reviews on time.
• Prepare clear reports for panels, annual reviews and related processes.
• Support recruitment of foster carers and promote the service through events and out-of-hours support.
