Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker in Fostering to supervise and support foster carers, ensuring stable placements and strong outcomes for children. The role involves training, annual reviews, and contributing to the fostering duty rota, in a team-based Children’s Services setting.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Social Work and Registration with Social Work England.
• Ability to build relationships and work in partnership with children, young people, parents, carers and partners.
• Curiosity in practice and tenacious desire to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and enable children, young people and families.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support foster carers, ensuring placement stability.
• Train foster carers and undertake annual reviews.
• Participate in the fostering duty rota.
• Collaborate with other areas of Children’s Services and care planning professionals.
