Job summary

Manpower UK in East Grinstead is seeking a temporary Formulation Tech to support production in the laboratory and aseptic dispensing room, producing Sensititre antimicrobial plates. The role is 38 hours per week on a three-week daytime rota, including one weekend in three, with potential to become permanent after six months.

You will prepare media and reagents, uphold GLP/GMP, SOPs, and maintain accurate documentation while collaborating with the production team to ensure quality output.

Qualifications

• Ideally educated to A-level standard in a scientific subject.
• Capable of following SOPs and H&S guidelines.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Able to organise and prioritise tasks under own initiative.
• Attention to detail when following procedures and keeping records.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of antimicrobic solutions per SOPs and production paperwork.
• Set-up and monitoring of production dispensing pumps for on-time output.
• Manufacture of ancillary solutions – ID media, buffers and excipients.
• Compliance checks of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Maintain and monitor raw material stock levels.
• Support the laboratory by washing and autoclaving equipment.
• Utilise SAP ERP, Microsoft Office and bespoke programs for data processing.
• Additional duties as required by the business.

This temporary Formulation Tech role in East Grinstead supports production within a laboratory and aseptic dispensing room, manufacturing Sensititre antimicrobial susceptibility plates. Working an average of 38 hours weekly across a three-week daytime rota, including one weekend in three, the successful candidate prepares media and reagents while upholding health and safety, quality, and compliance standards. Duties demand strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, and standard operating procedures. The position pays up to £13.46 per hour plus a 20% shift allowance, with potential to become permanent after six months. Formulation Tech Location: East Grinstead - The Birches Unit 19 Shifts: This role works a 3-week daytime rota, including 1 weekend in every 3 weeks. You''ll work an average of 38 hours per week between 6:30am and 6:30pm. Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun Week 2: Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri Week 3: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri Pay Rate: £13.46 + 20% shift allowance Temp-to-Perm after 6 months. You will work within the production laboratory and asceptic dispensing room to produce SensititreTM antimicrobic susceptibility plates. You will ensure Handamp;S and quality standards are always met. You will always work to ensure compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice); and ensure our SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of antimicrobic solutions in accordance with relevant SOPs and in line with production paperwork - weighing, dissolution and dilution
• Set-up and monitoring of production dispensing pumps, to enable on time and quality production output - pouring, priming and weight checks
• Manufacture of various necessary ancillary solutions - ID media, buffers and excipients
• Compliance checks of laboratory equipment and instrumentation - pipettes, balances and extractors
• Maintain and monitor raw material stock levels - consumables, intermediates and equipment
• Support the laboratory by washing and autoclaving equipment - pumps, glassware and other items
• Utilise computer software to process information - SAP ERP, Microsoft Office and bespoke programs
• Further duties and responsibilities as required by the business and within the ability of the post holder.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Ideally educated to A-level standard in a scientific subject
• Capable of following standard operating procedures and Handamp;S guidelines
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Able to organize and prioritise tasks under own initiative
• Attention to detail when following procedures and keeping manual records
• Ability to perform complex manual tasks with dexterity
• Computer literacy would be beneficial
• Laboratory experience is an advantage
• Exposure to a fast-paced high throughput manufacturing type environment would be valuable.
