Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Gearbox Test Engineer to develop, validate, and reliability-test Formula 1 transmission systems in a factory setting. You will lead dyno testing, rig development, and data-driven engineering to ensure performance and durability meet the demands of F1 competition, with no trackside responsibilities.

Collaborating with design and performance teams, you will drive structured test programs, investigate failures, and push continuous improvements, while

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
3+ years in mechanical testing in motorsport, automotive, or aerospace.
Strong knowledge of gear systems, tribology, lubrication.
Experience with test rigs and instrumentation (torque, speed, strain, temperature).

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and execute gearbox test programs on dynos and rigs.
Analyze high-resolution test data and correlate with simulations.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Develop and improve test rigs, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
