GM Performance Power Units seeks a Gearbox Test Engineer to drive development, validation, and reliability testing of Formula 1 transmission systems in a factory setting. You will lead dyno testing, rig development, and data-driven engineering to push performance and durability beyond current limits, without trackside duties.

You will collaborate with design and simulation teams, analyze high-resolution data, and document findings to drive continuous improvements.

Competenze

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in mechanical testing with motorsport, automotive, or aerospace experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of gear systems, tribology, and lubrication.
• Knowledge of fatigue, wear, and material behavior.
• Experience with test rigs and instrumentation including torque, speed, strain, and temperature measurements.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python).
• Familiarity with simulation correlation (FEA, multibody, drivetrain models).
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and clear communication.

• Plan, develop, and execute rigorous test programs for gearbox systems, including full transmission dyno testing.
• Define test procedures, instrumentation requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Operate and support advanced test rigs simulating real-world race duty cycles.

• Correlate test data with simulation models and historical data.
