Job summary

B&C Farming in North Norfolk seeks a bright, motivated individual to support our busy potato storage and grading operations. The role involves grading potatoes, loading seed bags, operating a telehandler and forklift, and assisting with other farm tasks as needed.

The position offers training, development opportunities, and a friendly, supportive team environment. It is a year-round role with varied hours and occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

Fluent English with strong communication skills.
Basic numeracy skills.
Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
Able to work alone and as part of a team.
Experience driving manual handling equipment with appropriate certificates.
Adaptable to weather-driven timescales and customer requirements.
Full UK driving license.
Experience in farming/factory environments and with potatoes.
Experience moving boxes with a forklift.
Able to identify improvement opportunities within operations.

Responsibilities

Grade potatoes on grader and harvester.
Bag seed.
Use of telehandler.
Treat or cut seed as required.
Rogue cereals, sugar beet and potatoes.
Prepare bags of potatoes for trials and direct customer sales.
General maintenance of equipment and site.
Maintain tidy and safe working environment.
Occasional work on other farm activities when required.

Job description

B&C Farming is a highly successful, progressive and well-respected farming, storage and haulage enterprise in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside. We are looking for a bright and motivated individual to help us continue to grow our business, working for most of the year in our cutting-edge potato storage and grading operations. You will work closely with other areas of the business. It is a role that whilst the basic components of the job are fixed, there will be opportunities to develop and adapt the role based on the experience and skills of the person who fills it. The job is quite active, but also involves a lot of driving manual handling equipment.

Required Attributes

Fluent in English with strong communication skills
Basic numeracy skills
Attention to detail and conscientious
Able to work alone and as part of a team
Experienced in driving manual handling equipment with appropriate certificates
Adaptable in response to customer requirements and often weather driven work timescales
Full UK driving license
Experience in working as part of a team
Experience in working in either a farm and/or factory environment
Experience in working with potatoes
Experience in moving boxes with a forklift
Able to identify areas for and drive Continuous Improvement within the operation
