Job summary

Cellmark Forensic Services in Abingdon is seeking a capable administrator to support the Forensic Toxicology department. The role covers admin tasks, sample reception, and return/destruction activities for Road Traffic Act and Casework Toxicology cases.

Reporting to the Toxicology Administrator Team Leader, you will ensure the smooth handling of samples, maintain records, respond to inquiries, and help keep SOPs up to date. Full training provided; permanent contract, 37.5 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• GCSE or A levels required.
• General administration in a forensic environment preferred; full training provided.
• Laboratory experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate receipt, return and transfer of items for forensic examination while maintaining chain of custody.
• Book in samples on in-house systems and manage faulting where needed.
• Ensure reports are completed and delivered and cases closed and invoiced.
• Make external and internal enquiries via phone and email and monitor departmental inboxes.
• Manage exhibits in line with Protection of Freedoms Act and Human Tissue Act.
• Balance priorities and support the Toxicology team.
• Assist with creating, reviewing and updating SOPs.
• Support casefile and sample management and data filing.
