Job description

If you are looking to redirect your career as a nurse or paramedic, we provide a dynamic and innovative pathway with opportunities for progression and extensive training.

The role requires the flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.

No previous forensic experience required as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

As a certified nurse or paramedic, you can pursue a career within the criminal justice system, aiding some of society's most vulnerable individuals. We believe in the right to healthcare for all, placing their health and wellbeing at the heart of our approach to care. We seek individuals eager to provide exemplary care, take pride in being part of a team that shares this vision, and have a genuine enthusiasm for developing clinical, forensic, and broader skills.

In collaboration with the Police, you will serve in custody suites, delivering healthcare to detainees. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of detainees with round-the-clock coverage in line with a schedule agreed upon with our client.

About us

As well as a Scottish Widows Pension, you will qualify for a Blue Light card and associated shopping and leisure discounts. There is also the Mitie MiDeals scheme, offering over 3000 discounts from your favourite retailers, leisure, and utilities companies.

Health and wellbeing benefits include a Virtual GP service, Employee Assistance Programme for financial, relationship, or mental health issues, and the MitieChoices programme, which allows you to purchase extra holiday entitlement, dental insurance, health cash plans, critical illness cover, and discounted gym memberships.

Share investment schemes such as Save-as-Earn (SAYE) and a Share Incentive Plan are available, offering free shares. The MitieStars programme awards vouchers for exceptional performance, with recognition across the company and bonuses up to hundreds or thousands of pounds. You can also refer a colleague who successfully joins us and receive £500 each time!

Job responsibilities

There is a £1000 bonus after completing 12 months of service (£500 for part-time staff).

Full-time shifts are in a fixed rota pattern of 4 shifts on and 4 days off: 06:45 to 19:00 for two-day shifts, followed by two-night shifts from 18:45 to 07:00.

Part-time shifts involve a fixed pattern: 06:45 to 19:00 for day shifts and 18:45 to 07:00 for night shifts, in a rota of 2 days on, 8 days off, 2 nights, and 4 days off. Rota schedules are available 2 years in advance. Estimated overtime earnings are around £3500 annually.
