Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a reliable Food Technology Technician for a North London secondary school starting January 2027 (earlier start available). The role covers lesson preparation, equipment management and stock control in a supportive learning environment.

The successful candidate will help maintain health and safety standards, assist teachers, and ensure a safe, well-equipped Food Technology area. DBS check or Update Service will be expected.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a school environment.
• Technician experience in a school, laboratory, workshop, Food Technology department or similar setting.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support the Food Technology department with lesson preparation and equipment management.
• Maintain stock levels and order supplies when required.
• Keep the Food Technology area clean, safe and well-organised.
• Assist teaching staff with lesson setup and wrap-down.
• Ensure equipment is properly stored and maintained.
• Adhere to food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times.

Food Technology Technician
Area: North London
Start Date: January 2027
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: 100 - 130 per day, depending on experience
Working hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday

• Ensure equipment is maintained and stored correctly


• Follow food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times
