Red Star Pathways is seeking a Food Technician for a Tower Hamlets secondary school. Start ASAP, full-time during term-time, to support the Food Technology department and prepare engaging practical lessons.

You will ensure kitchens are safe, stocked and clean, assist with demonstrations, and help pupils handle equipment safely, with emphasis on food hygiene and health & safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, equipment and materials for practical Food Technology lessons.
  • Support teachers during practical cooking and food preparation sessions.
  • Keep kitchens, classrooms and equipment clean, safe and ready for lessons.
  • Maintain health and safety and food hygiene standards.
  • Monitor and manage stock of ingredients and equipment.
  • Order and manage stock as required.
  • Assist with displays, demonstrations and lesson prep.
  • Help students use equipment safely.
  • Assist with allergen awareness and safe working practices.

Food Technician – Secondary School

Tower Hamlets | Start ASAP | Full-Time | Term-Time

Are you passionate about Food Technology and looking for an exciting opportunity to support students in a secondary school setting?

We are currently seeking a Food Technician to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Tower Hamlets, with an ASAP start.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, practical and enthusiastic individual to work alongside the Food Technology department, helping teachers prepare engaging practical lessons and ensuring the food technology facilities are safe, clean and well stocked.

The Role
  • Preparing ingredients, equipment and materials for practical Food Technology lessons.
  • Supporting teachers during practical cooking and food preparation sessions.
  • Ensuring kitchens, classrooms and equipment are clean, safe and ready for lessons.
  • Maintaining appropriate health and safety and food hygiene standards.
  • Monitoring and maintaining food, ingredients, equipment and other resources.
  • Ordering and managing stock where required.
  • Supporting students during practical activities and helping them use equipment safely.
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities.
  • Assisting the Food Technology department with displays, demonstrations and preparation for lessons.
  • Ensuring appropriate food hygiene, allergen awareness and safe working practices are followed.
About You
  • Have experience working in a school, college, catering, hospitality or food-related environment.
  • Have a genuine interest in Food Technology, cooking or practical food preparation.
  • Have good knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety procedures.
  • Be organised, reliable and able to manage practical tasks efficiently.
  • Be confident working with young people and supporting students in a classroom environment.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Be willing to work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school staff.

Previous experience as a Food Technician is desirable, but candidates with relevant catering, hospitality or food preparation experience will also be considered.
