Job summary

Aspire People Limited are recruiting a Food Technician for a Cardiff secondary school on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis with an ASAP start. You will support practical Food Technology lessons, prepare ingredients and equipment, and ensure high standards of hygiene and safety.

This role offers a competitive pay rate of £16.11 per hour plus a £100 sign-up bonus, with a view to securing a permanent position within the school community.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school, food tech, catering environment, or similar.
• Knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and health & safety.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to register with EWC or already registered.
• DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Positive, proactive approach to supporting learning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
• Support teachers and pupils during practical cooking activities.
• Maintain food prep areas, kitchens and equipment to high standards.
• Monitor stock levels and order ingredients when required.
• Ensure food hygiene and allergen procedures are followed.
• Assist with displays, events and school projects.
• Help students develop confidence and practical life skills.

Requirements

• Previous experience working within a school, food technology department, catering environment, or similar setting
• Good understanding of food preparation, hygiene, and health & safety procedures
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is desirable or willingness to register
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• Positive, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to supporting teaching and learning
