Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting for a Food Technician to join a Cardiff secondary school on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis with an ASAP start. You will support the delivery of Food & Nutrition lessons, prepare ingredients and equipment, and help maintain kitchen areas to high standards.

This role offers a clear path to a permanent position within the school, with a £100 sign-up bonus after 20 days of work, holiday pay, and ongoing CPD/training.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school, food technology department, catering environment, or similar setting.
• Good understanding of food preparation, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is desirable or willingness to register.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical Food Technology lessons.
• Support teachers and pupils during practical cooking activities.
• Maintain food preparation areas, kitchens, and equipment to a high standard.
• Monitor stock levels and order ingredients and supplies when required.
• Ensure food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen procedures are followed at all times.
• Assist with displays, events, and whole-school projects.
