Job summary

Dwr Cymru Cyf is seeking a motivated supervisor to oversee kitchen operations while supporting Front of House, ensuring safe, high-quality food service at our Elan Valley visitor site near Rhayader.

The role combines kitchen supervision with customer-facing duties in a busy cafe and retail area; you will manage ordering, HACCP records, training needs, and uphold food hygiene standards, with a strong emphasis on customer care and teamwork at a not-for-profit attraction.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering/retail/hospitality customer service.
• Experience with DBS check.
• Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction or retail or restaurant environment.
• Experience working with the general public.

Responsibilities

• supervise the kitchen and support Front of House supervisor to ensure excellent quality food is delivered while maintaining a safe environment for all persons on site.
• Order all kitchen and resale supplies from designated suppliers.
• Maintain upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to the required standard.
• Supervise and identify training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service.
• Strive to develop and improve the customer experience offering.
• Ensure the service in the café and retail area is maintained to a high standard.
• Maintain the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, retail and restaurant areas in accordance with Welsh Water Food safety procedures.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals, managing and organising kitchen assistants to deliver high quality food.
• Undertake any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
• This is very much an operational role. We are looking for a creative and positive person to join our team!
• Good grasp of MS Office and experience using POS systems.
• Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction or retail or restaurant environment.
• Experience working with the general public.
• Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day.

Elan Valley is situated in the county of Powys in mid-Wales, just a couple of hours from Birmingham and Cardiff. We can be accessed easily from the nearby town of Rhayader where the town is well served by public transport.
