Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is seeking a Café/Restaurant Assistant for the Elan Valley site in Powys, Wales. The role covers kitchen, café and retail duties on a 37-hour week across five days, with standard shifts and a strong focus on guest experience.

Join a not-for-profit organisation operating a visitor attraction; training will be provided and uniform is supplied, with staff discounts and flexible hours to support work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Good grasp of MS Office and experience using POS systems.
• Satisfactory DBS check.
• Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction, retail or restaurant environment.
• Experience working with the general public.
• Enthusiastic about putting customers first every day.
• Catering/Retail/Hospitality customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safety of all persons on site.
• Ordering all kitchen and goods for resale supplies from designated suppliers.
• Maintaining HACCP records at all times.
• Supervising and identifying training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service.
• Striving to develop and improve the customer experience offering.
• Ensuring the service in the café and retail area is maintained to a high standard.
• Maintaining food hygiene standards and tidiness of kitchen, retail and restaurant areas.
• Preparing, cooking and serving meals, managing kitchen assistants to deliver high quality food.
• Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the business needs.
• This is an operational role.

Elan Valley is situated in the county of Powys in mid-Wales, just a couple of hours from Birmingham and Cardiff. We can be accessed easily from the nearby town of Rhayader where the town is well served by public transport.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Ensuring the safety of all persons on site

• Maintaining upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to the required standard
• Supervising and identifying training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service
• Striving to develop and improve the customer experience offering
• Ensuring the service in the café and retail area is maintained to a high standard
• Maintaining the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, retail and restaurant areas in accordance with Welsh Water Food safety procedures
• Preparing, cooking and serving meals, managing and organising kitchen assistants to deliver high quality food
• Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business
• This is very much an operational role.
