Job summary

Hafan y Waun Residential Home is seeking a friendly Catering Assistant to help prepare and serve meals, set up dining areas, and maintain high standards of cleanliness in our kitchen and dining spaces. You will work closely with the catering team to deliver a positive dining experience for residents and visitors, following current food hygiene guidelines.

The role is 35 hours per week on a two‑week rolling rota, including early and late shifts as well as weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working in a kitchen environment.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and undertake relevant courses as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and beverages, including setting up and clearing tables.
• Record the temperature of food at the point of service.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing up of equipment and utensils.
• Collaborate with the catering team to deliver exceptional service.
• Ensure compliance with food handling and hygiene standards and legislation.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including manual handling and safe use of hazardous equipment.

Are you passionate about food and dedicated to delivering exceptional service? We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at Hafan y Waun Residential Home. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of service, ensuring a positive dining experience for our residents.

Key responsibilities:

• assist in the preparation and serving of meals and beverages, including setting up and clearing of tables where necessary
• recording the temperature of food at the point of service
• maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing up of equipment and utensils
• collaborate with the catering team to deliver exceptional service
• ensure strict compliance with current food handling and hygiene standards, guided by Food Safety legislation and Environmental Health Standards
• adhere to health and safety regulations, encompassing manual handling, COSHH, and safe use of hazardous equipment

Working hours:

35 hours per week on a two-week rolling rota, to include early/late shifts and weekend working.
